Pros

• Sneak Attack and Trick Attack guarantee a critical hit, even without the use of Chain Affinity
• Combining THF abilities with Chain Affinity creates the most powerful skillchains possible
• Best subjob for Cannonball builds, despite lower VIT and defense
• Treasure Hunter, Gilfinder, Steal, Mug, Flee

Cons

• Evasion Bonus is the extent of defensive upgrades
• Lower stats overall compared to some other support jobs
• Effective Cannonball builds require you to forgo all support abilities and /THF doesn’t supply any in return
• Requires more skill to execute effectively

THF sub is the career BLU’s favourite. Why? Because it has the highest damage potential out of all the other support jobs. (AL)SACATA Cannonball and Vertical Cleave are serious threats to be reckoned with that easily pump out four-digit figures thanks to their damage TP modifiers. This makes BLU/THF an effective Trick Attack for tanks in events. BLU/THF is also a good combo for dispatching Orc Dynamis NMs and statues. Most people are used to seeing BLUs /NIN. Surprise them with the effectiveness of /THF. But enough about endgame, /THF becomes good as soon as you get Sneak Attack. Use it with single-hit spells, like Smite of Rage, Sickle Slash, or Death Scissors. Please note that it does NOT work with ranged attacks (i.e. Queasyshroom, Feather Storm, and Pinecone Bomb.)

Thief is a viable support job starting at level 30 and remains so until level 75.
